Farmer’s Cheese (in the City)

I made cheese yesterday.  Farmer’s Cheese.  Queso Fresco.  Ricotta.  Call it what you will.

I’ve been reciting Little Miss Muffet all day.  I hate spiders.

I got a little creative with draining off the whey.  It was fun.

It wasn’t difficult.  And it was delicious.  I even made Guy use some of the whey in a smoothie.  It’s full of protein, vitamins, minerals, and lactose. Good stuff.

I’ll be making cheese with the kids at Hawarden Hills Academy Summer Camp next week.  They’re going to love it!

Have you ever made your own cheese?  Yogurt?

I think I’ll try yogurt next.

Recipe and more pics coming soon!

  1. I had no idea that making cheese was so easy! We were in Seattle last summer and bought some fresh curds at a cheese store. They were so yummy! Maybe I will try to make some this summer. Thanks!
